For those who don’t live directly on an Aircoach route getting to Dublin Airport can be an expensive nightmare.
The parking at Dublin Airport is extortionate by any one’s standards. The airports official long-term blue car park is just a couple of minutes round the corner from the hotel.
Days Hotel offer a shuttle bus to Dublin Airport for anyone who wishes t0 avail of our cheap secure underground parking facility. With easy access to the M1 and M50, and now the recently opened M3 extension to Cavan and Meath, it’s so convenient to reach us. The hotel’s 15-storey building is one of the landmarks of the area – just follow the sun!
With a taxi to Dublin Airport costing over 40 euro from Dublin city centre I don’t even know what it costs for people who live slightly more off the beaten track. With the added worry of congestion, especially along the M50, commuters can benefit from staying the night before at our convenient location, getting a good nights sleep and bite of breakfast before nipping round to the terminal on the shuttle and catching their flight – all stress free.
Congratulations to the Days Hotel Dublin Airport Football Team who helped raise over €80,000 to support the disaster relief efforts in Haiti. The Days team put in a fantastic effort, finishing in a very respectable 6th place out of 16 in the 7-a-side tournament at Irishtown Stadium in February.
We’d like to thank Agri Energy who sponsored the jerseys.

The Days Hotel Dublin Airport is in an enviable location with much to see and do close by. If you’re stopping over for a flight you might want to linger a little longer and some of features and attractions you might find of most benefit to you:
- We’re one of the closest hotels to Dublin Airport. In fact its just 7 minutes drive from the hotel to the airport.
- Easy access to the fabulous Ikea Dublin, only 2 minutes drive its a stones throw away! The store is like a huge home exhibition and you could easily spend half a day, there is just so much to see. The supervised play area and ballroom are fantastic for the kids but unfortunately they won’t let adults in – I’ve asked (several times).
- Get in some shopping at the Omni Park Shopping Centre by Santry Cross. Following a multi-million Euro investment the centre has been transformed. Visit the fantastic range of shops and the brand new Fashion Mall with all your high street favourites in one great location. Next door is the Omniplex Cinema showing the latest blockbusters. As a new mum, I recently enjoyed a holiday abroad with my 6 month old daughter. It was our first time to take her abroad, so I was a bit nervous about how we would cope with the 4.5 hour flight, and also all the stuff we would have to take with us! But it turned out to be very trouble free, so I thought I’d share some tips that we found really useful during the flight. Perhaps they might help you too when you are en route to stay in one of our Days Hotels in Ireland.
1. You will be aware that airlines are becoming increasingly mean with their luggage allowance, so as we were only travelling for a week, we brought everything in travel size for the baby. Everything from sun cream to baby powder was in jars and bottles less than 100ml. They are easy to get in the shops, or you can just buy little empty bottles and fill them from the large containers at home.
2. Hand luggage for baby; here was my checklist of items, which I am proud to say covered us for every eventuality on the plane!
- Sterilised bottles with cooled boiled water and formula ready measured to add in to each bottle and some small jars of baby food with spoons.
- Enough bibs, nappies, baby wipes, caseline, calpol, dummies to get you through the flight, allowing a few extra for any delays!
- Baby’s favourite blanket and a couple of small toys
- Change of clothes (just a vest and babygro)
- Best tip of all – Pack all your baby’s liquids in a separate bag so you can access them easily when you get to security
Bring your baby’s usual formula, and plenty of it as it may not be available in your holiday destination! However, jars of fruit purée etc are widely available in most supermarkets.
Give your baby a dummy or bottle on take off and landing, it will stop their ears popping
Request that the airline allocate you in a row that has an empty seat – this will allow you to lie your baby down if they need to sleep (and will give you some time to have a glass of vino!)
We requested a seat near the back of the plane so we could walk the baby up and down the galley if she got a bit cranky. It worked a treat.
Hope you will find these tips helpful on your travels to Ireland! If you have any questions about travelling within Ireland with a young baby, please contact me and I’ll do my best to help!
Our Dublin Airport Hotel is very family friendly, with workzone rooms offering a microwave, fridge and small kitchen, ideal when staying with a baby. Don’t forget to request a cot at time of booking.
