The lands of Malahide were conferred on the knight Richard Talbot by King Henry II after his successful campaign to seize Ireland. The Talbot family owned the castle from 1185 until 1975 when it was sold to the Irish state. Today you can explore the castle and it's surrounding gardens. A great day out for all ages.
